I believe it is trying to uninstall from the currently loaded version of Windows which would be the recovery. I tried the WUSA command, but it did not work. It will be different from the recovery CMD. You will have to replace C with the proper drive letter of the Windows installation. I have used DISM from the recovery CMD though in the past.ĭISM /Image:C:\ /remove-package /packagename: I've used that before, but only from within Windows. Using DISM, do you have a command sequence? I've not used it before.

You could probably do it using DISM to uninstall the update through a CMD window in the recovery mode I believe.įrom a CMD window, I can try to type "wusa /uninstall kb: What are you all doing to remove it? Thanks! KB4074588 for some customers that still have this issue, but how do I do that? There is no mouse or keyboard and I know of no way to uninstall it from the advanced recovery mode. A system restore seems to fix the issue for my customers. I've had this same thing happen for about 6 computers a this time - tablet, laptop, and PCs. I don't like this because now we don't have an answer to the solution other than re-rolling on the machine hoping it doesn't happen again. I guess at this point I need to re-image the machine. I did one more test and was able to read/write a flash drive, but not a desktop scanner or other brand/model keyboard and mouse. It also could be possible that Windows 10 is not supported for this machine all together.Īnother possibility is that someone could have plugged something into the USB ports causing Windows to flake out for I/O device drivers.

Drivers were not updated, so either some other driver might work or there is no telling if something could hose the drivers all together. The only thing I can think of is that this model of Dell Precision was not tested in the Fall Creator update back in OCT17 by Dell. I would think many others would report the issue. I don't think this is a cumulative update. At least that's what I found on one of the machines having issues. I believe the Cumulative update for 2018-02 is KB4074588. I'm still Win7 / Win10 right now, so just seeing some of the weird drivers and permission stuff. It was one of those play around until it works, then forget about it moments later though. Yes, most posts are old stuff or the printer kind and I have seen it too on some of my machines. Tried wired Plain Jane keyboards and mice to no avail, touchscreen no longer working, had to give up and start over.

Had to reset both PC's after hours of driver install / uninstall. USB is hosed, I suspect an update did it. I am seeing this pop up ALOT with client devices. I did add/remove from device manager, however I did not try installing manually. They're all typically the same generic Dell keyboards. I tried a different keyboard, but not a different model. Remove the problem devices from Device Manager, plug in to any port any manually install the drivers, instead of running setup for it.

Have you tried other M/K to confirm they work and limit the issue purely to a driver issue? Please link another thread, forum or answer if I didn't find it. Can't figure it out and don't have time to blow this machine away and rebuild.

I see some similar posts about printers doing this too. Checked for driver updates: None worked.Ran Windows Restore to a previous point, didn't work.Ran Windows Recovery tools, does not work in Safe Mode either.Tried the Sticky, Toggle keys settings on/off trick. Tried plugging into different keyboard, different USB ports, etc. Checked USB 3.0 support and enabled all ports.Checked BIOS, no changes and with defaults. When this machine boots and loads up the OS to the logon screen, the keyboard/mouse go dark.īluetooth & other devices: I see the Dell MS116 USB Optical Mouse and Dell KB216 Wired Keyboard both showing "Driver is unavailable".ĭevice Manager: Other Devices-> Dell KB216 Wired Keyboard (in there twice) and Dell MS116 USB Optical Mouseĭell Precision 3600 - Ver. This is probably something dumb with Windows 10.
